We really appreciate it when customers assist us by sorting out their containers prior to arriving at the Recycling Centre. It makes the whole process faster for staff and customers.
Sorting your containers

What is most important is separating glass from lightweight containers as we sort the glass in our sound-proof room in consideration of our neighbours. It is also very helpful if cans are bagged separately from plastic and cartons.
For customers who find it difficult to sort plastics, we will take the time to help you identify the three different types when you arrive. They are PET Coloured, PET Clear and HDPE.
Glass is sorted into Brown, Green and Clear.
We do accept other smaller volume items such as Yakult bottles and drink pouches, and we also separate steel cans from aluminium.
Below is our Container Guide this may assist customers in working out the best way to sort containers into their individual splits.
Cleaning
Please empty out and clean your containers.
Please remove lids, straws, excess liquid and cigarette butts.

Counting
If you can count the numbers for each of the splits in your bags, boxes and milk crates this will help us serve you quicker. Some of our customers make them whole numbers ie 20, 25, 50 or 100 which is even better.
Carting
Milk Crates are a great way to bring in your glass bottles. If you place 5 rows of 5 bottles upright and then fit 4 rows of 4 downwards there will be 41 glass bottles in a milk crate. Take one out and there will be a nice round 40 bottles in a milk crate.

Mesh Bags are the best bags for lightweight containers. They can be purchased for 50cents each from the cashier. Many customers also put their lightweight containers into garbage bags.
Cashing in
Please present your customer count sheets to the cashier for payment for your 10 cent containers. We only redeem on containers that have 10c written on them.
